Welcome to the Countess of Brecknock Hospice

The Countess of Brecknock Hospice was founded with the support of Macmillan Cancer Relief following the successful establishment of two Macmillan nurses, and became an independent charitable trust in April 1998.

Opened in September 1990 by Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Kent, our six-bedded in-patient unit not only provides palliative medicine and terminal care, but many patients are admitted for short term symptom control and then return home to have many months of improved quality of life, possibly before being re-admitted for terminal care.

It is aim of our dedicated multi-disciplinary team to ensure that patients are able to live as full a life as possible within the limitations of their illness. Staff also provide sympathetic support and care to family and friends
