The Countess of Brecknock Hospice was founded with the support of Macmillan Cancer Relief following the successful establishment of two Macmillan nurses, in Andover. Our six-bedded hospice was opened in September 1990 by Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Kent, becoming an independent charitable trust in April 1998.
The Hospice was run by Winchester and Eastleigh NHS Trust until 2012 when Hampshire Hospitals NHS Trust came into being, supported for many years by Doctors from Andover Health Centre. From 2012 the hospice became a specialist palliative care unit, with Consultant-led care.
In 2014 the hospice was refurbished, with the formation of six individual rooms.
